MetroLyrics Adopts Gracenote's Authorized Lyrics Service

Agreement Marks the First Existing Lyrics Site to Adopt Industry Authorized Solution

EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - April 3, 2008) - MetroLeap Media and Gracenote® today announced an agreement allowing MetroLeap's flagship site, MetroLyrics, to provide its users with Gracenote's catalog of lyrics -- the largest database of licensed, complete and accurate song lyrics in the world. Beginning today, hundreds of thousands of authorized song lyrics from all four major and hundreds of independent music publishers will be incorporated into MetroLyrics through the Gracenote service.

MetroLyrics has one of the largest existing lyrics information sites on the Web, and is one of the 500 fastest-growing websites in the world. Until today, MetroLyrics has offered a service fueled mainly by community submissions, and, by working with Gracenote, will be the first operating lyrics site to transition to a fully-authorized and licensed service. Through the agreement, MetroLyrics users can now be certain that artists, songwriters and music publishers are being properly compensated for the use of their copyrighted lyrics.

The Gracenote Lyrics Database contains lyrics for hundreds of thousands of commercial tracks and is the only service that has license agreements with all four major publishers: EMI, Universal/BMG, Sony/ATV, and Warner/Chappell. Gracenote also has agreements with dozens of prominent independent music publishers including ABKCO Music, Inc., The Bob Dylan Music Company, Cherry Lane, Chrysalis Music Group, Disney Music Publishing, Ice Nine Publishing, Peermusic and Bug/Windswept Holdings; and more than 200 agreements for key artists repertoires such as The Doors, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Janet Jackson, Weezer, Carlos Santana, The Grateful Dead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney, Gwen Stefani, Nirvana, R.E.M., Madonna, and The Eagles.

For many years song lyrics have been one of the most popular search queries on the Internet (6th most popular on Ask.com in 2007), and because of this demand, hundreds of sites hosting unauthorized lyrics have been established and become popular destinations. Gracenote recognized this growing interest in lyrics in 2003 and began working with music publishers on a licensed lyrics solution that year. In 2007 Gracenote launched the first lyrics service that provides:

--  Licensed content from all major and top independent publishers;
-- The world's largest database of complete and accurate song lyrics; and
-- A rights payment system that is designed to accurately compensate the
    artists and publishers for the use of their copyright material.

Gracenote Lyrics is now the standard in the industry and is being utilized by major search portals and music sites such as Yahoo!, AOL, MTV, Radio Disney and others.

"With Gracenote, MetroLyrics users are assured of finding the most complete and accurate song lyrics on the Web, and that the rights of the songwriters and publishers are being respected as well," said Jim Hollingsworth, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Gracenote. "By adopting our lyrics service, MetroLeap is paving the way for other lyrics sites displaying unauthorized lyrics to follow suit."

"Gracenote worked with us to fully understand our business model and offered licensing that made sense to our existing lyrics site," said Alan Juristovski, co-founder and CEO, MetroLeap Media. "Gracenote and MetroLyrics working together will allow faster inclusion of the latest and most frequently-searched songs in the Gracenote's lyrics database."

As part of Gracenote's licensing program, independent publishers and songwriters may register at www.gracenote.com/lyrics to have their works made available through the Gracenote service. This process enables smaller organizations and individual artists to have their songs made available to millions of fans while ensuring proper compensation for their use.

"Now that there is a comprehensive and licensed lyrics service available from Gracenote, we are excited that sites like MetroLyrics are transitioning to this solution," said Ralph Peer, chairman and CEO of music publisher Peermusic. "MetroLyrics is setting the standard for other lyrics sites to provide a high quality service as well as ensure that the most important contributors to the process -- the songwriters who create these songs -- get their fair share of the revenue generated by these popular sites."
